Project Vesperi is a branching narrative sci-fi game where you play as Doctor Evelyn Roth, sent to investigate a potential sign of life on Venus. When an intruder threatens the only habitable station on the planet, your choices will shape the fate of those around you—and humanity itself.

Project Vesperi originally started as a student thesis at Chapman University that at minimum was always meant to be a portfolio piece for everyone involved. Being students on a tight budget, we decided to use free resources such as Unreal Engine 5, implementing all of its incredible features, including MetaHuman Animator for high-detailed facial animation, RealityCapture in combination with Mesh-to-MetaHuman to bring our actors’ likenesses into our game, Blueprints visual scripting for our branching narrative, animating with Control Rig for in-engine motion capture cleanup, and Quixel Megascans to quickly iterate on the visual design of Venus.
Over time, what originally started as a student project against all odds grew into a short impactful narrative game, built from the ground up to be replayable, made possible by our incredibly passionate team and supporters. As we journeyed from students learning Unreal Engine to indie developers working in our spare time over the past four years, we are so excited to finally be launching Project Vesperi on April 24.
