Hi, this is the first time I’ve used Unreal Engine, so the problem might be really obvious.
I created a normal project with an open world level, and then I added and enabled the Async Loading Screen plugin ( Async Loading Screen in Code Plugins - UE Marketplace ) and gave it the name of my video (a .ogv file). Other than that, this project uses nothing but the default level, with no changes, right now.
I followed along with Preparing Unreal Engine Projects for Release | Unreal Engine 5.1 Documentation to try to make sure my release settings are alright.
It’s not showing any errors at all that I can see. it just gets stuck on “Clearing all cooked content for platform windows” even if I let it sit for 20 minutes or more
edit: I tried Platforms > Windows > Package Project, and it got one message past that, to “UATHelper: Packaging (Windows): LogCook: Display: Sandbox cleanup took 0.080 seconds for platforms Windows”. Then it hangs forever, again.
I wonder if this is happening because I haven’t set up a PlayerController or any of the normal game things. I’ll try making a project with some starter content and see if I can package that.
second edit: nope. I tried packaging a brand new project with the third person stuff. and it hangs at the exact same place.
third edit: ok, there are three shader compilation worker threads running that are using like 90% of my cpu between them. It must be doing something. Hopefully. I don’t understand why this little starter project would take like half an hour and more to compile shaders for, though…
