Project Crashed On Package...Now Crashes on Startup

I have been having a problem getting my UE4 to behave nicely. If anyone could give me some insight on what the hell this error stack means, please help me…I’m so frustrated, almost to the point of just quitting UE4.

Hi ,

  • Does this occur in a clean, blank project with no additional content or is it limited to one project?
  • If you remove the contents from your contents folder are you able to re-open the project?
  • Can you post your crashlogs here so I can take a look? They can be found at \Unreal Projects\PROJECTNAME\saved\logs\
  • Is this project from a previous engine version or was it made in this version?
  • Are you using github or the launcher?
  • Can you open the project from the .uproject file or does it crash when attempting this as well?
  • It is just limited to my one project.
  • It varies which file causes the crash, but if I remove that file, yes, it opens.

  • It’s from a previous engine version, but the reason I upgraded it to 4.10 was to try to fix the crash error.
  • It’s source-built if that’s what you’re asking.
  • It crashes when opened through both the launcher and the .uproject file.

Honestly, I’ve backed up the project, refactored a ■■■■ ton of blueprints, and it still happens intermittently. If you cannot diagnose the error, I’m sorry to say it, but I’ve had enough of UE4. I will not be continuing my project if this cannot be resolved. I really hope you can find the problem, because I’ve put over 200 hours into this project.

I have a few things for you to try to see if we can limit this down further.

  • Instead of removing everything from the contents folder, just remove your blueprints. In the logs, the compile errors and warnings I am seeing are all tied specifically to MMOCharacter and a Bandit. I’d like to see if we can limit it down to these.
  • Do you have any custom C++ actors in the project?
  • Do you have any circular references in the project?
  • What was the last thing you added just before these crashes started occurring?
  • If you are comfortable with it and cannot limit the source of the crash using the first method, can you send me a link to your project? I’ll be happy to take a look and see what may be occurring.
