Project crashed after being deployed on iOS device (Metal error)

I received no error message from the engine console, the game crashed after its deployed on iphone5, which has iOS 9.0 and a 16GB memory.

Please help, thank you.

Plus: All maps( even the ones with ‘none’ gamemode and empty scenes ) in this project are unable to launch, and the other projects are fine with this.

Hi davidg0,

Looking at your log, it appears there is an issue with a plug in you are using, specifically with the file: “icon_umg_kantanbarchart_16x.png” This file may be missing, not formatted as a power of two, or corrupted.

Please locate this file, check to make sure it is formatted as a power of two (ie, 64, 256, 1024 etc.)

Thanks,

.

Hello, I fixed the errors produced by kantan charts and missing modules and I found that these can’t solve the problem. So I think that we may can find more useful information from the xcode crash log: link text
Thanks

It appears that KantanChartsStyleSet is utilizing Metal which, in turn, is only supported on devices equipped with A7 processors or higher: iPhone 5S, iPad Air, iPad Mini with Retina Display, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

You mentioned you are deploying to an iPhone 5 vs an iPhone 5S… is this correct?

Also, because Metal is in beta, we can’t compile it into the binaries or libraries that we release with 4.3. You will need source code access from GitHub and compile the source code on a Mac with Xcode. Please read the following documentation: [How To Use Metal][1]

Here are screen shots from our Crash Reporter page and the last log you sent that has lead me to this conclusion. (I recommend replacing any elements requiring metal to see if this does not resolve the issue.)

The above image shows the last line of the callstack which indicates where the crash occurs.

The above image is from your XCode crash log showing errors related to Metal.

These errors combined with the previous errors point to elements using Metal being present in the Kantan Charts. (You can test this by making a copy of the project -hiding the original project temporarily on the desktop for instance- then trying to package without the Kantan Charts altogether.)

Let me know if you find this to not be the case.

Hey:
I just completely disabled kantan charts and everything related to Metal, the game still crashed, but it seems like there’s another problem caused by something else, can you please go over the log again? Thanks a lot and sorry cuz I know its tired to read the log

Please produce and send a new log from the project with kantan charts disabled. This should show the remaining issue. (This steps may need to be repeated a few times until all problems are eliminated.)

Your latest log still contains metal errors:

However, since this latest log is from an iPhone 6, metal should work on this device. Please review the documentation on rendering metal to make sure project settings are correct: [Metal Rendering API][2].

I solved it, just shut Metal down in iOS settings. Thanks.
