Hi!
Me and my team have switched to Unreal Engine 5 sometime last year. So far everything is going pretty good, but we do have one issue.
Our project was initially a 4.27 project, and we moved to 5, had to adjust a few things but everything works in. The only issue we have is that anytime someone new pulls the project, even from a clean install, it says that the project needs to be converted to a UE 5 project which gives us a few options (open a copy, convert in-place, etc).
The project being pulled itself is a UE5 project, has been for several months now and the config files do flag the project version.
A strange thing we noticed is that converting in-place the project does absolutely nothing in terms of tracked changes in our version control tool. It doesn’t add files, doesn’t modify files. From that perspective, nothing has changed, but once that step is done (it’s a lengthy one) then you can open the project and start compiling the shaders.
We’ve theorized that maybe our ignore files is ignoring some of the files created/modified by the conversion? If not, does anyone else have a similar issue? What should we check?
Thank you.
