We’re working on a new project. Eventhough, we’re quite noobs for this, we’re doing our best to learn new things in the process.
Our project is called Project Code: Dark, just a code name (we don’t have a name yet), it’s a Psychological Horror game inspired on Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Outlast, FNAF. We’re trying to bring good mechanics, a catchy backstroy and an immersive environment to really scare you
This time I come here to show you some of the progress we’ve made in our first level. It’s an abandoned factory where things were a bit out of control and got quite creepy.
But don’t worry, our level isn’t finished so you won’t get scared (I hope ).
I won’t tell you everything, so we can keep things for the future!
I’m terrified already! By the flashlight lens lighting, I can tell that jumpscares will fill this initial level.
I am looking forward to seeing how “Project Code: Dark” evolves throughout the year, and thank you for sharing your progress here in the Unreal Engine Forums!
Our first room from our project is almost finished, we need to polish some aspects (as usual), but we wanted to give you another look and also to share you its progress.
In terms of coding, I’ve been developing an Inventory System which is also almost finished and some features need to be implemented such as Inspecting objects. (WIP)
Moreover, also an Interaction System is being developed because we want to bring a good experience when interacting with the environment such as lights, machines or any kind of “interactuables” objects on the map.
We want to hear about your thoughts about our project, as to improve and get feedback!
This first room looks eerily stunning, in a good way, of course! The lighting, shading, and room environment itself came out terrific; fantastic work! Also, congrats to you and your team for progressing this far in such a short period. I can tell you all have put some serious effort into “Project Code: Dark,” and I, for one, am HYPED to see more! Kudos again on a job well done so far!
I know that the scenery is meant to be rather eerie but for some reason, it seems so cozy to me. Like in a haunted Victorian home; I’m drawn into the scene despite its obvious warnings. And I’m 100% into it.
I’ll be sure to follow along with your progress, can’t wait for the next update!
Thank you for your feedback. Yes! As you said, it feels like a comfy place to be. I’ve been trying to design an environment with this vibe. We call it “Safe room” and they are on the map when you start and when you finish the game.
These rooms are designed to contain the player and give a good and cozy place, just to calm the player down. When the player leaves this room, the horror experience will start, and there you will find a different environment, more terrifying.
Greetings @iNeptuno; I hope you and your team are doing well! Thank you for your continued updates. I’m happy to see the progression for “Project Code: Dark” is coming along nicely. The Control Room is perfect, and I’m sure when the Storage Room is done, it will be too. But I must say your main menu steals the show; it looks amazing!
I am late to the party, but this is wonderful/exciting news! Well done on making it this far in your journey, and I’m looking forward to checking out the tech demo!
