Project Advent Tail (working title)

Hi, I’m Zero Break and here’s the first set of characters for Project Advent Tail (as I do not have screenshots at the current stage of development). This is not the final name, of course (and I’ve already decided on what it will be called as well, though it is not yet in any of my public-facing materials so I can’t legally reveal it unless you want to sign an NDA). In any case, the idea is that each of the bosses has an ability set, some of which can be adapted to mana spells that draw from an energy allotment but can be used to exploit enemy weaknesses (or in other words, there’s some Megaman influence with respect for the attack methods and their acquisition). However, these are living people (most of them from an alien society from which an expedition team narrowly escaped the implosion of its planet simply by crossing through portals for study of the effects of Planet Earth on their physical structures; as such, the typical elements of Megaman-style games (and specifically Megaman X and later) either have realistic adaptations (such as encapsulated breathing devices for the volcano and water levels) or lore-based explanations for the game controls (such as bullets from a police revolver, or telekinetic energy that propels the characters upward along the side of a wall). As well, some of the characters have physical and/or mental quirks that impact their natural, unmitigated capabilities (thereby bringing attention to potential future means of accommodating things like neural disorders and motor disabilities). There are also a few twists and turns in the plot that end up suggesting that the actual scope of species survival may actually be much bigger than initially believed, in addition to research being conducted into an aspect of their mana arts that could be devastating, if not outright destructive.

Just wanted to pop in and say I love the character designs you’ve shown here. But then I was blown away by the thoughtfulness of adding in physical/mental disabilities to those characters. Really interesting to see how those capabilities become super powers :smiley: Do you have an estimated time of when we might see some gameplay?
