Procedural Terrain Generation

Hello everyone!

I just switched to unreal from Unity about two weeks ago. I created the procedural world generation-based survival game in Unity (well didn’t quite finish it because I switched to Unreal, but you get it…), and since I learned the basics of how to use the unreal engine, I decided to make another procedural world generation-based game in Unreal this time, a little different, but doesn’t matter for this case.

So we all know Unity has much more tutorials about basically everything. created this pretty decent procedural landmass generation tutorial series about five years ago Procedural Landmass Generation (E01: Introduction) - YouTube which is still pretty useful.

And I was wondering if there was a tutorial like this on Unreal too, not with this much of details, but just to create basic procedural terrain. I was searching for a while but I couldn’t find any useful. If you have any knowledge about this topic or you might know some tutorial or tutorial series about it, I would like to have some help…

Thank you in advance!

hi,
here is a little video series from a young talented programmer, he shows the basics for c++ code. you will have to extend them later on your own.

i build terrain generator in unity and it is very nice with the junks and all other features. hope this will help you recreating it for unreal :+1:
