Problems with masked images (Alpha channel)

  • Since a masked image needs to be PNG or TIF, it cannot contain EXIF data or Geo tags.
Is there a way to import this info from the original JPG, or is there a workaround ?
  • I had a 1000 photo dataset succesfully processed, but with a lot of noise in objects surrounded by air.
I masked out the air in most of the photos. When I recreate the project with the masked photos (PNG), I get an unexpected program state error during alignment step.
Now I exported the alignment information from the old project to a new one and replaced the (air) photos with the new masked PNGs, so I don’t need to align. It’s calculating the model now, no errors so far…
    (edit)
Result is ready, but no significant noise reduction and mesh quality is almost the same.

Hi Wim Willems
do it in a different, easier way - when you align JPGs, then create and put the TIFFs or PNGs in a separate folder, then open the RCPROJ file in any text editor ( Edit++ ) and replace the *.JPG extensions with *.TIF or*.PNG and save it. Don’t forget to make a BACK-UP SAVE before you start editing the RCPROJ file !!

Hi, you have some library wich transfert exif data from original ones to postprocessed ones : for example
