Problems with island reviews and sanctions

Dear readers, the Epic Games team and all moderators of this forum who are reading this text!

I hope it’s okay to write a post like this here, but at some point the limit is reached. I’ve been active as a map creator since August of this year, and with this post I’d like to point out some of the problems that come with creating maps. I will keep this short and concise.

First of all, I would like to express great praise: The possibilities given with UEFN in Fortnite are truly impressive and inspiring. Without question, the system is technically outstanding - if it weren’t for a few problems that cloud the whole thing.

Island rejections:

I have already uploaded island versions several times that were rejected due to mistakes on my part, as I could understand the reasons. But there are cases where everything seems to go wrong. I often receive rejections where it is not at all clear why the island was rejected. In some versions, I have changed nothing but code or systems and suddenly something completely different is against the rules. Especially with UEFN projects, I notice how inaccurate and unreliable the map review system is. It’s frustrating to see how often maps with thousands of players are published that are obviously against the rules, while my maps are blocked for unjustified reasons. That is simply unfair.

Sanctions wrongly applied:
I find it particularly annoying that I once happen to receive an additional sanction. In one case, I appealed against a decision, which was accepted, and yet the sanction was subsequently made more severe. That is absolutely incomprehensible to me.

Yesterday I wanted to upload a new version of this map. It was rejected again for the wrong reason. I then made some changes and it was finally accepted - that was around 0:30 am. However, at 2:20am I suddenly received an email that I have received further sanctions that will last 1 week.

In conclusion, I would like to say that UEFN is a great thing, but the use of AI and human examiners often leaves a lot to be desired. Maybe there are ways to make small improvements here to fix such problems. In my opinion, there are still too many obstacles and inaccuracies in the system. I hope I can possibly achieve something with this message.

Thank you for your feedback. While I cannot guarantee a response, I can confirm that this has been forwarded to the appropriate team.
