Problems measuring the Cut Volume of a small example model

I’ve watched the tutorial video on measurements several times, but the data set used in the video isn’t available to learn with. I created my own small example. The markers shown are 0.492 meters apart, they are configured as Ground Control Points using local Euclidean.

1x12:011, 0.0000000000000000, 0.0000000000000000, 0.0000000000000000
1x12:014, 0.4920000000000000, 0.0000000000000000, 0.0000000000000000
1x12:013, 0.4920000000000000, 0.4920000000000000, 0.0000000000000000
1x12:012, 0.0000000000000000, 0.4920000000000000, 0.0000000000000000

Is the resolution of the measurement output adjustable in a way that would give me reproducible Cut Volume measurement from a small volume test like this? 0.01 m³ is the result I get from two very different model examples. I’ve tried multiplying the distances used by my markers by 10. Doing that I get some results but the measurements still seem off and inconsistent between tests.

Also for some reason, I can’t insert an image so here is a link:

Hi designcomputer,

as it is quite small there could be a problem with the units.

Can you try to import Local coordinate system in mm? To do so, go to Workflow tab/Application/Settings/Coordinate system

Import system database:

Look for C:\Program Files\Capturing Reality\RealityCapture\local.xml

and there is also laboratory coordinate system in mm:

<cs id=“2” desc=“Laboratory” params=“+proj=geocent +ellps=WGS84 +units=mm +no_defs” />

Then you will need to change your GCPs into mm and you should get more precise results.

Thanks Ondrej Trhan, that was very helpful.

Do you have any idea why I can’t insert images in this post?

If they are bigger than 2 MB it is not possible to insert the images.

That can’t be the problem because the images are around 1MB each. I’ve tried both jpg and png files but all I see is a black dot like this:
