Problems importing file from ArchiCAD 26, shows nothing but a broken link after importing with a direct link.

To anyone who can help,

I am using Twinmotion 2023, Archicad 26, and macOS 13.5 on a new PowerBook 16 from 2023. However, I am trying to use the direct link feature, and nothing is happening. There is a burgundy broken link icon on the import button, indicating that nothing is being imported.

Do you have any suggestions for what this could mean, especially regarding how to fix it?

Hi ,

The broken link cion means that the model you linked is not being detected. If you close ArchiCAD, this is expected since Twinmotion is no longer detecting an active Datasmith connection with ArchiCAD. Re-opening the Archicad model should fix this.

If you rename your ArchiCAD model, this can also happen, since Twinmotion expects the ArchiCAD model being linked to have a different name. Opening the Direct Links settings and selecting the newly named model as the Direct Link source should fix this.

If this happens right after you initially establish a Direct Link, then that would require further investigation. If you could record a video of this happening and submit a bug report at https://twinmotionhelp.epicgames.com/s/case-community-page our support team can investigate further.

Best,

Raghib

Dear Raghib;

Thank you for your response. I have been working on a presentation and restarted a new file. I was finally able to create a direct link, whereas previously I could only import SKETCHUP files from my ArchiCAD.

I am using the new laptop with the M2 chip. My previous computer burned up!!! This was the first time ever for this to happen to one of my computers. So, I am always worried that the computer might overheat.

When using Twinmotion 2023.1.2, the computer fan starts to run and the laptop heats up. So, I have been using external fans to cool it off. However, I am worried that this could damage the computer.

I understand that Twinmotion is still not native to the new Apple M2 chip, and I have to wait for the release. I only hope this will solve this heating issue, as I heavily rely on Twinmotion for my work and want to avoid any possible damage.
