Problem with qui le megascans materials

Hello to everyone, today I started to use unreal engine 5 for render my SketchUp projects. Everything worked fine, I’ve imported some pbr materials with quixel bridge, but when I modified one materiel, by changing albedo from a texture to an rgb color, after this every materials imported have same albedo, all other maps are the ones of the preview in quixel, but all are imported with same albedo (the one I changed).
Sorry for my English and thanks for the answers

You edited the Quixel master material. All objects inherit from that material.

I think maybe removing it and download another asset, maybe? Not sure about that…

How can I remove the master material? So I’ve just downloaded the materials, there is a possibility to evitate this mistake? Can I download all materials I want from bridge, edit it and not have the master material? Thanks

You need the master material, otherwise nothing works. You can remove it, and I’m guessing when you download the next thing, it will re-write it.

But I could be wrong…

( It has to ).

So how can I know which is the master material, and how can I modify quixel materials without affect every other materials?

Just open the material on an asset. It’s an instance, right?

Then double click the parent ( further down in the details ), again, again, etc, until you get back to the master. The one with the material graph.

That’s the thing you edited, I’m guessing you’ll see your edit there. In that material, press CTRL-B, which will take you to it in the content browser, and bin it.

Then download a new thing from MS.

Ok I will try this, thanks a lot

Tell me how it goes…

I think this is a problem, the graphite open the master material, how can I change the material in graphite?

I can see that’s not the master, that’s an instance.

Ok but how can I modify my material in graphite? When I double click on my material, then go to graphite, the material is always the same, the one you can see

You have the mesh in the scene, you can get the right material from there

Yea I open it from there, but when in material editor I select graphite, the program give me the same material always, as you can see.
From this view how can I go to graphite for this material?

You have to specify graphite, on the mesh, see picture above.

It’s like this

  1. You can specify the material on the mesh here

  1. If that’s the right material, you can double click it, and edit it like this

When you get a picture on the left, and lines on the right ( like this ), you are looking at a material instance. You can edit it here. But if you really want to totally change the way it works then you follow the chain back to the parent, here

You may have to follow this route several times.

  1. When you get to the parent, it looks like this

Not exactly like this, this is just an example. But the point is, the final parent is a material graph.

Ok so i can edit the parent and the material I selected change? Thanks

If you change a parent, all the other materials that ‘inherit’ from that will change.

To be clear, the parent can just be a material instance.

BUT but but… if you edit any of the megascans stuff, and later, download some new MS materials, all of your changes will be overwritten.

The only way to avoid this is to make a copy of the MS material, and work with that.
