Problem with Grid and Infopanel

I have the following problem and would be very grateful for any help.

I’ve scanned a building and created LSPs (Laser Scans). I’m also using drone photos for overall alignment. Using ground control points, I aligned the model to the precisely leveled laser scan model (LSPs). Unfortunately, the orthoprojection tool can’t be applied exactly over the grid. For example, the point 0,0,0 isn’t exactly at a grid intersection. The same problem occurs with the info panel. There’s no alignment between the panel and the grid.

How do I establish alignment between the grid and the info panel, or rather, the orthophoto tool?

Hi @JulianHanschke, a screenshot of your situation would be helpful for fully understanding the problem.

Thanks for your quick reply. The screenshot shows that I want to position the panel info box at 0-0-0. However, the point isn’t on a grid intersection. Therefore, I can’t recreate the orthoprojection box for the building sections in Rhino. What’s causing this?

The grid plane you see in RealityScan 3D viewport is relative. Though in some cases 0,0,0 corresponds to the center of the grid, this is not true most of the time, especially in larger, mostly georeferenced scenes. The center of the reconstruction region is indeed 0, 0, 0.

If you are having issues with coordinate systems and origins across different applications, there is a different problem. For that, I would need to know what settings you used to import your laser scans. Are the laser scan positions supposed to be locked and serve as a reference for all the images? You mentioned you used GCPs. What role did they have? I am asking because the coordiante system in the info panel says local Euclidean, and I don’t see GCPs in the 1Ds, only CPs.

Thanks, I just found a solution myself.

I set one of my four ground control points to 0-0-0- and clicked update.

The entire model has now moved to the new position.

Now the grid matches the info panel again.

I think this could be very valuable for other users.
