I’ve a turntable and make 252 pictures by turn.
After importing images, I did trie several times to use align images… but after a minute or so…No result in 3D
I don’t have problems with the images in your testing-file.
Where am I … going in the clouds ? ))

Sorry the 254 is the new turntable (on building). Hereby tryout with the old turntable with 120 images.

the images have been rotated, I thinck not in photoshop, the 3D result gives the image as originally taken.
in the components I’ve noticed that only 2x4 camera’s have been detected, and only a few tie points…

then can say what can be done, how to improve it, as see from the images there is space fro great improvements

for the “turntable scenario”
in short the main issues with alignment is
-
Image quality…
Even its set to ISO 100 the image quality of the camera is very poor. Even downsampling the image 2x still see plenty of NOISE what is a killer of quality. -
the scanning room is a “featureless” so there cannot be detected reliable points in the data, just few points per image
and its even more problematic becasue of the noise…
=try add something on the floor a NON-repetitive pattern so points can be detected at least there and help to align properly the cameras -
scanned subject have plenty of skin and featureless clothing.
The basic of photogrammetry is to have “features” on surface so it can be detected on many images and so align-register together.
I was running into a similar issue with a small set of images, only six. Only three of the six were aligning. I found by increasing the downsampling for alignment to 4 I was able to get 5 out of the 6 to align. The alignment and results in this case were quite good considering the low number of input images.

I am facing a similar issue. The Capturing Reality program only registers a few pictures out of the lot. I am trying to create models of silicon molds and have roughly 90-100 pictures of each mold from all directions. However the program only selects less than 10 pictures, usually from only two angles resulting in very flat 2-D models. I have tried using pictures with and without anything in the background, hoping that would help, but nothing has changed. These are fairly small silicon molds and I am using a Canon macro 100mm lens. Is there anything else that I can do that would help?

I took 108 photos total.
36 from the top, 36 from the bottom and 36 from the side, having the figurine sit on a white block that i used just for the alignment step so it would align the top and bottom images properly.
All 108 photos aligned perfectly into a single component.
Thank You for the example! However, our picture quality is very similar, yet our models aren’t as intricate in detail and therefore don’t seem to align properly. Is there a way to manually register the photos?

There is the option to use control points to help with the aligning process, but those should be used sparsely and only when required.

We are trying to make a video of a model that we have created, however we have realized that the video is not a smooth orbit around the model but rather just an amalgamation of all the points where the pictures were taken. Is there a way to create a smooth video orbiting the model?

Shouldn’t the turntable option work like that it is ignoring static not changing BG and registering only what is changing ?
Am i missing something ?
