I’m an architect base in South Africa, I’m new to UE4 and Ive been busy experimenting for a month now and i can say i’m impressed.
i need some help with AE4. got a presentation coming in a month time.
is it possible to present a project to the client using XBOX or PlayStation? if yes what is the process of exporting to XBOX or PlayStation?
or another option is a laptop and connect it to the TV. it will be nice if i can present using XBOX or PlayStation.
please help got a month left to present to a client.
You need for both cases (Xbox and PS) to be registered as a developer with them, pay their taxes for the development kit (there are certain conditions to meet). For both cases, once you have your developer id, you need to contact Epic to have access to the platform kit (each one has a set of extra code, and this part is relatively fast) and with it you will be enabled to package to that specific platform. For both cases you will need to wait for a development kit to be delivered (it might take months). The development kits contain a special console to help you test your game in both cases. Only Xbox has the option for you to be able to run your game in your own console while registered as developer, but your have some limitations over the features you can test.
It is hard for you to have all this much happening into a month only, not just because the delay over the registration process and the dev kits to be sent, but you will still need to deal with the software dev kits you will receive from Microsoft and/or Sony, plus the one from Epic for each of their platforms, which will take time that you won’t have to prepare your presentation. Your best choice is to use a computer, I wouldn’t recommend a laptop because the hardware sometimes is too weak, but a real computer with a small case factor with a strong hardware.
Actually to use any VR gear like Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, you need to check those equipment’s documentation and there they will tell which is the hardware capabilities they need in order to work well. Usually for comfortable eye adaptation (without motion dizziness) you need solid 90 FPS capability per eye (a scene is divide in stereo for your eyes, so basically you are rendering twice) and this requires a good processor and GPU to accomplish and I am not aware of a laptop with those specs, thou I am sure they do exist. The proper place to check for this, maybe a forum for Oculus or HTC gear.
My pleasure, but be also sure to post any more questions regarding VR in the appropriate section, which surely there are people which might have some shortcuts on finding info you need.
If you want to do a VR demo on a laptop, most manufacturers will have a VR Ready designation for ones that are designed to support it. Typically you need something with like at least a GTX 1060 graphics card, but you also need 3x USB 3.0 ports
