Preferred Music Design Platform

What software do you all prefer for cheap or free music design. I’m just trying to find a software for this stuff since my games are feeling kind of lonely and I feel music is the answer. And I’d also just love to hear what you all enjoy!

I’m a professional composer, I say that not to brag, but to qualify myself.

With that out the way, what type of design are you talking about?

What genre of music?

Hmmm, kind of cartoonish/stylized music. Something that would go with that kind of game theme.

And are you looking to write the music yourself or combine samples (like a DJ)?

Append: Can you read music fluently?

I cannot read music well. So preferably combine samples more so. I’m not a natural at music.

Got it.

Okay, so you may want to look into sequencers that easily allow you to drop in samples and edit them. If you have a MIDI keyboard, then you’ll be able to add sounds of your own.

I would look into Sequel; they have some useful assets and it’s really easy to use:

FL Studio comes to mind, but that is really limited and for people with virtually ZERO musical knowledge.

Thank you so much! I’ll definitely look into this! How much does it cost and is it royalty free?

It’s COMPLETELY free.

Also, no royalties.

Any other questions, I’ll be here.

Good luck in the interim!
