This can be the cause of multiple things.
Is your friend also a UE4 Dev? Are you running the Game from within
the Editor or did you build it and send it to him?
Have you open the right ports on your router?
Does your firewall block the outgoing and incoming connections for the game?
What are the port to open? I made a standalone version
Could you use the comment function?
I don’t know the ports. You may search for them. Maybe
someone else had this problem. This is just a common
source for a not working Multiplayer in any game.
