Possible to make Lights invisible in Mirror-Reflections?

Heyy All,

I'm doing my project, I have this big mirror on the wall, and I have put some area light, but the area light is visible as an object in the mirror. Is there a possible way to remove the visibility of the light in the mirror?

Please help.. I couldn't find the answer anywhere on the internet.

Thank you

Hello there and thank you for reaching out :)

Unfortunately, I'm a little unsure what you mean by being visible?

Would you be able to share a screenshot of what you are describing?

On my side when I add an area light in front of a mirror. I see the effect of the light and not the actual object unless I have it selected.

Cheers

MC

Sorry, meant to attach this image to illustrate the issue:

I'm having the same issue. Spot lights, area lights... the source of the light reflects in glass. Like in Lumion, we need an option to turn off the light source, so that it's still emitting light, but the light source is hidden. Furthermore on Spot Lights, when you increase the "Radius" under "Shadows" to make the light give a softer shadow, the light source that is reflecting gets even bigger. Please fix.

Hi, has anyone found a solution to this problem? I have had the same problem for a long time. In exterior visualizations, the light source is reflected in the glass. I use Area Light.

It's only a problem with Path Tracer, otherwise the lights are invisible in a mirror.

EDIT: As long as you turn reflectivity to 0. In Path Tracer the problem persists.

Hi all! Try to make it so that in the area light the borders of the illumination do NOT extend to reflective surfaces.

I checked it works. But neon is always reflected, since it has no borders of illumination.

To illuminate shelves and the like, instead of a neon lamp, it is better to use NEON MATERIAL. The result is good, but you just need to put the object with this material out of line of sight.

Unfortunately, this illumination is visible in Path Tracer only.

So Twinmotion developers have a lot of work to do. At the moment, the lighting system is not working very well.

And where is our AO (Ambient Occlusion) in real-time render mode?

Hey guys. I have the exact same problem... Took a time to read you ppl here but still, I tried the : Select the Light --> Intensity --> More --> Reflection --> Reduce to 0.0 ...and the problem persists. Please, it would be amazing if someone finds the answer to it. Thank you very much.

Big problem for me on interiors. It's just killing my shots. I've played with the lights and materials to try and find a better solution but just not finding anything that works.

Thank you for your fast reply!

Yes sure I'm still struggling, I can't find a solution.

I took some screenshots showing: Area light visible as an object in the mirror, Neon lighting visible on window glass ...

Hmm I don't know for me when i put the area light in front, it looks like i have 4 object : (4area lights) top bottom and oblique )

Hope you understood my issue.

Thank you

I am having the EXACT same problem and have desperately been searching for an answer all day. In my case, I have an area light providing soft illumination in a room, with the light being located at or below the ceiling. The white plane of the area light is visible in the window glass. If I move the area light up outside of the room, it's no longer visible in the window......but this comes at the cost of the nice shadows at the wall/ceiling intersection and results in a flatter, duller looking render. In Vray, lights can be individually set to be on but not visible in reflections. Is there no such setting in Twinmotion? Or is this a bug of some sort? Please help!! It's making this software much less usable. Thanks.

I'm having the same issue.

Has anyone responded about this?

That is completely FALSE! It is a problem in real-time render mode as well. However, I have found the solution! To fix this issue, turn down the Reflection value of the light itself (Select the Light --> Intensity --> More --> Reflection --> Reduce to 0.0). This is different than other render engines, like V-ray for example, where you turn off reflectivity in the material, as opposed to the light source itself.

In case you do not see my response below, I'm reposting it as a direct reply to your question:

Sorry, forgot to mention that, you are right. So I was wrong, but not completely... 😉

Hi! I can see the suffering over there. You know ...in the end I had to change the place where the light was. Try to put the light behind your camera view and try to light up the area that way. Try to "deceive" this issue. I hope it helps 🙏
