Possible to import a skeletal mesh with children?


i have made a vehicle in Maya.
It’s made like the Sedan model in the Vehicle Example. One base and 4 wheels.

The base has many children (lamps, driving wheel, etc…).
It is rigged in Maya (one bone for the base and one per wheel).
When i import it in UE4 (as a skeletal mesh) everything that is a children of the base is missing (imported as a static mesh everything is there).

So is it possible or do i have to combine the base into one mesh before exporting?
