Possible Scam Attempt on Fab – Has Anyone Experienced This?

Summary

Hello everyone,

I recently received an offer from someone claiming to be from “Luminari Digital Arts,” interested in purchasing one of my 3D models listed on Fab. Initially, they offered an unusually high price in cryptocurrency (Ethereum). However, instead of purchasing directly on Fab, they asked me to create a crypto wallet and register on an external NFT marketplace (privevault.com). They also requested that I mint my model there before proceeding with the transaction.

This seemed suspicious to me, so I wanted to ask if anyone else has encountered a similar situation. Have other sellers received similar offers? Is this a known scam? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Yes many sellers been receiving this, it a scam.

It just recently bot crawling fab website to get sellers email address and hoping to scam someone. And of course fab team won’t do anything about it.

The simple solution would be to use a button(+ eg: cloudflare bot checker) to show the email similar to what youtube has made:

It’s a well known scam among ppl on Artstation. Just say that you’re not going to mint ■■■■

@SupportiveEntity Can you remove that post on crypto from Arutnevv, otherwise people might fall for that scam and other bot can chain reply to it.
Thanks !

You got scammed. How do people even think anyone wants to buy your ‘art’? How delusional are you?

Like @Arodi007 said, this is probably from the scammer.

I got multiple mail of this type

I receive such letters every day. This is a hoax, they require the creation of an NFT on their resource at their own expense.

They tried to trick me like that on ArtStation for a long time, everything was very realistic, but when I generated the NFT myself for free, they asked me to do it on their website for money, so I realized that it was a hoax.

Got a similar message today. A random girl propose 2.5 ETH to buy one of my asset as NFT. This is definitively suspicious, and I did not replied to the message.

Another possible scam is from a group of people making a sort of upcoming movie called “Changewyx”, and they want to collaborate because they found one of my asset interesting on Fab.com . Well, that might be legit, but the proposal is so unclear/weird (based on their website, I still can’t understand what they are trying to achieve, and how it is related to UE5), that I suspect there is something not normal  Or maybe this is just a random student project that they are not able to explain correctly.

Anyone received such message too ?

When you see anything about crypto, you should assume it is a scam.

It is not some random student, companies are employing people to make these scam, they usually target vulnerable people online with deepfake video call making love story/sickness etc… but they are opting into a broader field now.

These companies have over 150k staff doing that and i wont mentioned the country but it a growing business.

I have, Look out for Kate Kellen. Nice lady when she’s not trying to scam you. Here’s what I got—

Hello,

My name is Kate Kellen, and I am a collector of digital art. I came across your work on Fab.com and was immediately drawn to your unique style and creativity. I am reaching out to express my interest in purchasing some of your artworks as digital collectibles, also known as NFTs.

I am particularly interested in acquiring … and would like to offer 2.5 ETH for it. I also noticed a few other pieces in your portfolio that I think would be a great fit for my collection, and I would be happy to discuss the possibility of purchasing those as well.

I believe that your art would be a valuable addition to my collection, and I am excited about the possibility of working with you. If you are interested in selling your artworks as NFTs, I would be happy to discuss the details further and answer any questions you may have.

Please let me know if this is something you would be open to, and we can go from there.

Best regards,

Kate Kellen
