Ponytail won't ponytail

I have a player model with a ponytail that I rigged up and able to get it to react to physics and what I would like to do is to attach the root of the tail to the head and still have the physics react as the player moves.

The issue I’m having is when I link or attach the tail to the head socket the physics no longer occurs.

Could someone be so kind as to point me in the right direction? A few different ways could be nice but I’m more interested on how to accomplish the task using a player comportment blueprint I built so I can swap out clothing.
