I wanted to try and get an idea for how to do large-ish sci-fi architecture. So I threw together the most low poly stuff I could, threw it into UE4 and stuck some default materials on (ones already existing in shootergame).
Going for something like this kind of look: ArtStation - Explore
The ultra-low-poly + decent material approach certainly seems to work. I’ve noticed that I prefer sci-fi stuff with relatively large shapes and fairly harsh angles too. Or rather, I prefer that kind of thing for a more authoritarian type of level, so I’d maybe use that approach for somewhere I’m trying to make seem kind of austere? Harsh angles and stark contrasts and all. Less colour as well.
Fascinating just playing with UE4 really.
