Point Cloud Questions - Photogrammetry

I have a handful of questions about Point Clouds in RealityCapture.

Context: I want to export Point Clouds to other softwares, notably in the Autodesk Ecosystem. I would like to export them at different detail levels, know how many points there are (ideally), and have it be georeferenced.

Question 1: How can I tell how many points their are in a point cloud in RealityCapture?
Question 2: Can I render larger point clouds? Ideally without rendering large meshes.
Question 3: Can I geo-reference point clouds? If so, how and what is the correct way to export it?

Another note: So far I export it as a .las to Autodesk ReCap Pro & save it as a .rcp or .rcs

Hello @TheGage101

Q1: The approximate number can be find in 1Ds view when you’ll click on the model. Is Selected model window, you can see the number of vertices.

Q2: It is not possible to create dense point cloud without computing the mesh.

Q3: Yes, it is possible to georeference the model. To export the model, you need to have set the proper output coordinate system and also choose the option Project output during mesh/point cloud exporting. This is a good tutorial to georeference your model: How to geo-reference the scene in RealityCapture using ground control points faster | Tutorial

Thank you! I have a very large area that I captured and initially rendered it in Normal detail (300M), and it took some hours to render. However the allignment just took a few minutes or so. Ideally I could get a dense point cloud without rendering in High Detail.

I appreciate the response and your help!

You can get a dense point cloud from Normal detail model and also from High detail model.
The name dense point cloud is because it is made from the mesh. In opposite, sparse point cloud is made from feature point you see after alignment.
