Point Cloud Problem

Hi,

I have a problem when generating a Normal or Dense point cloud. It misses a lot of points and creates kind of square parts (see the attached picture).
Do you know how I can solve this problem ?

Thanks !

Did you set a reconstruction region before doing the reconstruction?

Chances are that images from those sparse areas are not in focus, misaligned or you do not have enough usable detail (a.k.a. photos) from those places.

Do you perchance have multiple components after alignment?
You may have to re-run alignment with the “Merge Components Only” setting set to TRUE so RC will try to align components and merge them together to give you more of the missing detail during reconstruction.

You may eventually have to resort to using control points to get better alignment.

I had multiple components but I deleted those who didn’t align. My main component contains 900 photos out of 1100 which is more than I need.

So the data I used seem ok and the Preview point cloud is fine. I have this problem only when using Normal or High resolution point cloud…Those squared shapes are really weird, it does this on the entire model

Hi Guillaume
Contact me directly on my email for further discussion, as I can‘t help you based just on these screenshots.

Seems to me like areas with no coverage or too acute angles.
What was the outcome?

Problem with ALIGNMENT. big reprojection errors as there are trees with not so many good areas to detect features…
