Hi Epic,
Just to make a request: please, keep the support for “common” Ray Tracing, which now if labeled as “deprecated”.
My question is why? RT is still better, in many areas, than Lumen. Maybe Lumen is focused in getting a higer performance with less fidelity, that’s ok, but what about people who want the highest fidelity, independently of the cost? (Like ArchViz, Automotive, or rendering cinematics, for example).
It’s a pitty that some RT features are still missing, but also Lumen has other features still missing or under development. Even RT is more broken now than in UE4. So… what can we use to have a high fidelity illumination-reflection now? And waht about having detailed reflections or dynamic illumination combined with baked lighting? The hilarious answer seems to be Unreal Engine 4. The version I still recommend to all my friends and students (more than 25,000) for production purposes, beyond the ‘UE5 beta’ marketing.
For example, a new broken UE5 RT thing: What's this trail around objects?
But my summary is: why is RT deprecated now? Will Lumen supposed to be able to achieve (if the user wants) the same quality as ‘pure’ Ray Tracing? In that case, I could understand it, but in the meanwhile, would be nice to have a working Ray Tracing (or better than in UE4, at least).
Thank you and best regards!
