Trying to claim the Megascans assets and am returned with the message ‘please authenticate yourself’ like how, where?! I knew this transition was going to be a mess

Hi, please try disabling your ad blocker for fab.com. Then, click on your avatar. If you’re not logged in, log in again and reload the page. Claiming should work. If it doesn’t, try using Ctrl + F5 to clear your browser cache or clear the site data using the developer panel of your browser.
I had a similar issue with AdGuard.
