Please Add "Force Dowload Asset" To Epic Lancher

Please add the option to download the asset even if there’s no compatible project, it’s annoying to have to download four versions of Unreal Engine 5 just to download the asset, and without even opening the project, you can copy the asset from the “Content” folder to your project in the latest version of Unreal Engine.

It’s simply useless and absurd. Imagine a shader is only available for 5.3 and you have 5.7.1. Well, you have to download Unreal Engine 5.3 and then create a blank project, then add your asset from your Library to the 5.3 project. Unreal Engine 5.3 and the project are completely unnecessary, because you’re just copying the asset from the cache Vault or the project’s content folder to your 5.7 project. Now imagine trying to use an asset from 5.2, 5.0, 4.27, 5.6, and so on… over 200GB of downloads just to acquire 120MB of assets.

Add a “Force to download” button that simply adds the content without considering the project version, just warn that the original asset is not for that version and that’s it, we Devs will solve the rest.

Did you try the show all projects button?

Yes, you see, it doesn’t work like that; that’s precisely the problem.
The asset is for version 5.3, which means that the Epic Games Launcher won’t let me install it in any project that isn’t version 5.3, and that’s the issue. The asset is fully compatible with any version 5.3 and higher, but the Epic Games Launcher won’t allow its installation unless you have a project in version 5.3.

The solution is to “Install Unreal Engine 5.3,” then “Create an empty project,” and that’s it. Click “Download asset,” and you’re done.

But look, here’s the “redundant” part: you can use the Vault Asset or Cache Asset and take the 5.3 asset and move it to the “Content” folder of any project, like 5.7 or 5.6. I didn’t even open the “Empty 5.3 Project,” I didn’t touch it, I didn’t open it, nothing. It’s just “Empty53” and that’s it. I didn’t even look for the asset in the “Content” folder because it’s not necessary, since my asset would already be in the “Vault Cache Asset.” But no, if you don’t have a “Forcedly Compatible” project, it won’t let you… I just want my asset.

It’s 100% redundant and tedious. You have to download the 5.3 Engine just to create a 5.3 project, and that’s it. You can delete the 5.3 Engine if you want, but seriously, it’s too much just to download one asset.

What I want is a “Force Download” button that simply downloads the asset and places it in my Vault Cache Folder, and then I decide what to do with it.

The development team put a lot of effort into making all assets from previous versions compatible with the newer versions of the engine, but now Epic Games Launcher isn’t allowing that feature to be used properly.

I’ve never had it, but I see what you mean

Is it a generic asset?

I’m wondering if the seller has to specifically click some box to make this happen…

I imagine that’s how it is…
But there’s nothing I can do on my end except make a huge fuss to get it.
Now imagine having a considerable number of assets: 3 for 5.1, 5 for 4.27, 7 for 5.0, 1 for 5.2, another for 5.3… Over 100GB of downloading from Epic’s servers just to get assets that are 100% compatible with version 5.7, but which the publisher hasn’t updated for some reason.
One button, a simple “Force Download,” and that’s it.

I know, it’s nuts, I only ever have one engine installed.

Override should be possible
