I suggest blocking it at Firewall level. Reason: Routine editor crashes often trash the engine INI’s. When that happens the Do-NOT-SEND telemetry settings get reset to their defaults, which means the Editor is free to ‘phone home’ again no matter what the settings were. Renaming exe’s such as 'crashreporter along with the analytics DLL’s also helps (Epic posted about this before but can’t find it right now).
They love receiving tech data in NC. But GDPR etc exists to stop data being ‘weaponized against users’. So editor crashes shouldn’t silently re-enable ‘phone home’ mode, its not on! Overall I trust Epic (they’re not Facebook Onavo after all), but still - Hey, anyone at Epic listening?
**I ran a profile on EpicGamesLauncher… Didn’t expect to find anything, but it does do some interesting things, including getting local Computer-Name, and the list of all running apps on the box etc… What’s that about Epic… Trying to trump Facebook???
