Hello!
I’m starting a VR project, in which I’m going to purchase the hardware and I know that the Playstation VR2 are very good in terms of price/quality. I would like to know if anyone has tried a PS VR2 in UE5 for testing. If it is possible to use the same engine as other VR devices?
yes, the PSVR2 with PC adapter does work with UE5 when the OpenXR plugins are enabled. I successfully used my PSVR2 with a VR project after connecting it with the PC adapter. However, your mileage may vary.
I am a complete VR novice, especially when it comes to VR game dev. PSVR2 is my first headset and connecting it to UE5 was more of an experiment for me than anything else. My experience was that the basic VR example map was very laggy and stuttery. It was still playable, but felt pretty bad in the headset (I should have checked what FPS I was getting, but didn’t). I also tried it with a separate, small project of my own making and it was even worse there.
It’s unclear to me whether the bad performance was an issue with UE5 not having a plugin specifically for PSVR2, if it was because some of my editor settings were incorrect (again, I’m a VR novice), or if my PC simply isn’t up to snuff for VR game dev(3080).
