Playing back animation on Control Rig in Animation Blueprint?

Hello, I am trying to playback animation thru a control rig in an animation blueprint. The CR is the Metahuman control rig which has both forward and backward solves setup. Is there something that needs to be done to tell the rig to backwards solve? I cant seem to get it working at all.
In the image if I connect the animation directly to the output like the red line the animation plays back like it should. If I connect the animation to the CR node I would assume I need to tell it to backwards solve to then playback the animation thru the rig (like in the image)
When I do this tho the character just T-Poses.
So how do you playback animation thru a control rig in an animation blueprint?
