Player naming mechanic


I am trying to figure out how I can have the player have the ability to “name” things in the world. Subsequently, I’d like the ability to store those names in some kind of inventory system (although I know that’s something I can look up elsewhere). I haven’t really been able to find anything similar to what I’m looking for.

I think you need to elaborate on what you do with sketches of your concept. I can understand that you want things to be named and have them in an inventory – but why do you want names in an inventory?


Basically I am trying to make a Garden of Eden “pokemon snap” type of game. The player would explore the Garden and play the role of Adam, naming everything he finds; flowers, animals, etc.
