Play particles while paused

Is there a way to play particles when the game is paused?

I have tried many ways to solve this from creating a blueprint with a particle component, a C++ class with a particle component set as the root, as well as simply spawning a particle system while setting “tick even when paused” and no matter what I do, particles will not play when the game is paused?

Is this even possible?

It’s definitely possible, I see marketplace products that do backgrounds while the game is paused…
