Hello everyone,

I wanted to send a quick message to let everyone know we will be releasing our first free update very soon. The update brings with it 23 new meshes(beanstalks, leaves and stone blocks), 9 new textures and 3 new materials. Additionally our example map has been updated to include these assets and show you their basic uses. The updated assets can be seen in the screenshots above.

If anyone has suggestions for more supplementary content please let us know and we will do our best to include it in a timely manner.

Thank you

Hello everyone,

the new free content is now live!

Hi platfunner!

Love the pack and am using it in a platforming prototype.

Content suggestion: Could you include versions of the platforms you already have but with polygon faces capping the bottoms of the platforms? This way they could be more easily used as floating platforms.

Otherwise, love the new meshes and stoked about more. Maybe some kind of mechanical looking platform with “rail” pieces that could be laid out along a moving path.

Thanks for the great pack!

Hi JBernhelm,

Those are great suggestions. In the case of capping off the bottoms of the platforms we can both make individual caps for each piece and a standalone version of each platform for easier placement. We’ll also being work on some mechanical moving platforms and get them published as soon as possible.

Hi Jbernhelm,

we’ve created some platform bottoms for you and wanted to get them out to you as quickly as possible so we’ve placed them on dropbox at the link below. As for your other suggestions we will work on those and include them and the platform bottoms in a future update.

In the meantime please make sure you unzip this rar file into the “Meshes” directory (eg. Unreal Projects\PlatformerStarterPack\Content\Platformer\Meshes\PlatForm_Bots)

Cheers!

are there also some game-mechanics included, so one can put together a simple game with them and the 3d assets?

Hi Pinotti,

our focus with our pack is to provide high quality environment pieces to help you build levels quickly. We do include some basic blueprints for picking up coins and some power ups but the effectively do nothing more than disappear. Having said that it shouldn’t take to much work to get some simple game mechanics working with the assets we have provided (eg. collect all the red coins, find the key and unlock the door, find power ups to make you jump higher.)

Cheers!

Thanks platfunner!
