I’m sorry to hear you almost lost a client due to this issue. I’m also really surprised to hear they were willing to drop the entire project for table reflections that wouldn’t be 100% accurate.
I wouldn’t go as far to say that you can’t rely on the engine for professional projects. I sounds like you’re coming from an offline rendering background I’m assuming? Working with game engines is definitely a challenge and you’ll always run into bugs and issues and sometimes you’ll have to figure out creative solutions to go around them, which can sometimes be fun.
