Placement of object without collision problems


I would like to know if someone has a quick solution. I will like to place a object in a seen without it colliding with things for example a door. The only thing I can think of quickly is instance a object near to a actor then invisible then have it find a spot that no collision is detected. Do anyone has any good suggestions?
