Pick Up a Useable Object? IE: Flashlight

Hi guys and gals,

I’ve been wracking my brain on how to make it so that when you pick up an item (ie: a flashlight) it then becomes usable.

Alright, you got me. It’s a flashlight.

I’ve been amazingly unsuccessfully at getting this to work. I can pick it up and I can have it work right off the bat (thank you tutorials), but the action of having it work only after picking it up is baffling me. Any tips in the right direction would be appreciated.
