Physics handle pick up does not work with Chaos destruction?

I implemented a simple physics handle based way to pick up items, which works great. My main issue is that when I try and use this on a object that has been fractured using Chaos Destruction, I can no longer pick it up. It still interacts with other physics objects in the world.

Would love some input into how this can be solved.
