Physics enabled hair are not responding well to colliders

I have a scene setup where character turns head right to left. She has long pigtails. I want them sliding over the shoulder then fall in front.

The problem is hair are not behaving well with the colliders. They only respond to automatically generated colliders not the manual ones. And no matter i resize or reshape them. The behave to original shape and size (when generated automatically).

This is super strange. I tried adjusting their position but still not getting accurate results. As they are longer in Z axis whereas actual shoulder is thinner in Z.
