Photo Alignment fails in reality capture CIL

Dear Sir

 

I am currently running a one month license of the CIL version of the software on my workstation and enclose below the dropbox file for a job I tried to run yesterday.

File SHF interior was generated using this CIL version of the software. Using this I can import and align the base laser scan and import the photos which I need to add in. However, when I try to align the photos the function appears to fail and nothing happens.

I have tried running the same project on a different computer using a demo version of the license (file SHF Interior 2) and this works absolutely fine.

However, when I try to open the file generated on a different computer using the demo version of the software on my main workstation with the CIL version of the software I get an error message saying that the project file is locked to a different computer.

Please explain why the photo alignment does not appear to work on the CIL version of the software (it is the latest version) ?

Long term I will need to be able to open old jobs on different computers (e.g. if I buy a new workstation). Is there going to be a problem with this ? - can files only be opened on the computer which generated the original project or is there a setting I can change to overcome this ?

Dear Robert,

I started downloading the dataset and will take it look at it ASAP. Did you use the same alignment settings in both version? Can you please share also the script or command sequence you are using to process the dataset? You can send it to me also via our contact form. Thanks.

Can you please describe what you mean that align function fails? Does any error message appear? Or does it finish but do not create any component?

Regarding the message, that the project is locked to another PC, this happens when you are trying to open the projects created in Demo version on another machine. This is the restriction of the Demo version itself, projects created in the Demo version cannot be loaded into paid version of RC and opened on another PC.

Hello Robert,

I tried to align the photos with laser scans in the project SHF Interior 2 using command -align with default settings and it aligned fine. One component with over 300 inputs was created. Did you set specific alignment settings or used the current ones? Can you please check if the Merge components only in the Alignment Settings/Advanced was set to False? If it was set to True, then only existing components are merged and no unregistered images are added.
