for a while now I’ve been getting periodic FPS drops in Unreal Editor.
I work for a bit and suddenly the fps drops from 60 to about 3 or 4. It stays like that for roughly 10 seconds, then jumps back to 60 fps. At this point this happens about twice a minute so it’s pretty annoying and makes it almost impossible to work with UE.
Did anyone experience similar problems?
Notes
Graphics Card: GTX970M
Driver: 382.33 (though it already happened on older versions as well)
CPU: i7-5700HQ at 2.7 GHz
RAM: 16GB
I also ported the project from 4.12 to 4.15
Though that’s been a while ago and I don’t remember whether I already had the problems on 4.12.
Well, for the record, i don’t get this issue. But since you’re working on a laptop, you may want to check on your GPU temperature. If it gets too hot the GPU will underclock to reduce the load, thus lowering the temperature, but of course it’ll decrease the performance for a brief moment.
I could actually resolve this by simply cleaning out my cooling fans. Weren’t even too dusty, but apparently still enough to cause this. So it wasn’t a software/GC problem on my side after all.
