So I realise Unreal 5 is probably aimed at the next few generations of technology.
However there is a massive difference in the cost of shadows and lighting between Ue4 and Ue5. With Ue5 being really cost heavy.
Even disabling all of the settings related to Lumen. There is still a noticeable difference. My main menu map which is tiny went from 140 fps to 90fps. My playable main map which is much larger went from 120fps to 60fps.
The only thing that changed was the engine version.
What I would like to know from the Unreal team, is there a plan to address how resource heavy Ue5 is? Or are you expecting people who use Ue5 for serious projects to be; upgrading hardware and only targeting players with similar high end hardware?
