Performance and lag issues in Zombie Merge Tycoon with high CCU

Summary

The map ‘Zombie Merge Tycoon’ experiences severe performance and lag issues when reaching high concurrent player counts (500-1000 CCU). Previously, the map ran smoothly even during peaks of 200-400 players. However, at higher CCU, the following issues occur: player respawn times extend up to 50 seconds, bullets fired from weapons take several seconds to register, and any actions triggered via Verse scripts (such as spawning objects) are significantly delayed. These issues make gameplay slow and unresponsive. The map runs perfectly in private mode or with fewer players.

Assistance is needed to determine if this is caused by Fortnite servers, map performance limits, or other factors, and to identify potential solutions.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Play “Zombie Merge Tycoon” → 6136-8270-1591
  2. Test the game when the map has 500-1000 CCU.
  3. Notice how the map starts to experience performance issues, lags and slowdowns.
  4. Repeat the test with less than 400 CCU and notice that the map works perfectly.

Expected Result

The map should run smoothly even with 500-infinite CCU, as previous versions of the map with similar peaks (200-400 CCU) worked without any issues.

Observed Result

The map becomes extremely slow and laggy at peaks of 500-1000 CCU, despite having no visible errors and running perfectly in private matches or with fewer CCU. Players experience delayed respawn times of up to 50 seconds, bullets take several seconds to register after being fired, and any objects spawned via Verse scripts are executed with significant delays. Other in-game actions, such as interacting with elements, are also noticeably delayed, severely affecting gameplay. These issues only occur at high CCU levels.

Additional Notes

  • This issue did not occur in previous versions of the map, even with high player peaks (~200).
  • It is unclear if the problem is caused by changes in Fortnite servers, a performance limitation in UEFN maps, or something specific in the map design.
  • The issue does not occur in private mode or with fewer than 400 CCU with players.
  • I would appreciate guidance on identifying the cause of the issue and potential solutions to improve the player experience.
