Perforce issue with unreal engine 5

Im having an issue with perforce that never seemed to happen in unreal engine 4. Its not major, just very annoying. Everything works fine with perforce and ue, my friend and i can push and pull from perforce without issues. The server is running locally on my machine. The problem seems to happen once the server is populated with the project files. As soon as its populated, and i am in the editor, pressing play and exiting play mode each take about 15 seconds, with ue being froze for that time. Closing the editor doesnt work, it just freezes and i have to force close unreal engine. i have a typemap set up and an ignore file set up as well which i never needed in ue4. This is not a major issue, but is definitely annoying and adds a lot of unnecessary wait time to work on simple things, and i never had this issue in unreal engine 4. sorry if this is a dumb question, i am very new to both unreal engine and perforce and cant figure out why this is happening. any help is greatly appreciated, thank you!
