PCG - 2024 - roads, junctions....is it secret knowledge ?

Hello maybe I wil ask funny or easy for some question…but I am really trying to get around that part from some time.

Can some experienced say to me what is actual state of UE PCG with road, crossroads, junctions etc ? Maybe what I want is basicaly future tech and that’s why I cannot find any reasonable knowledge for this.

From very long time I am searching for knowledge about creation roads system for myslef. System basicaly just placing asphalt roads, sidewalk, crossrads, junctions…so I just want to myself simply and easy “paint” roads and connect it automaticaly to junctions.
I’ve done almost every type of PCG tutorial that is available online, building, forests etc. Some were showing how to do this a blueprint some as landscape spline, some pointed out sockets but somehow I was not able to make it work. Landscape spline also sooner or later is crashing my UE, other way as blueprint. I have also find that some peoples are seeling ready systems that suppose to work that way.

and hooray…after many months of trying today something finally started to work.

Things that he shared are easily finally working for me as I would like to make road using His blueprint.

But now I I am looking at node structure of his blueprint and he used things that none of earlier tutorial covered, and I am having little problem with properly understanding this. For myself. Maybe I am aiming to high…
But please could someone experienced say something about this topic ? maybe I’m searching in all wrong places ? maybe I don’t know something what I should know ?

*edit : or maybe just do everything as landscape splines, and then slowly switching points as for example 4 way junction then again normal smiple asphalt models etc…no other complicated way is best option and I just need to eliminate crashes ?

or at least please could you point me in proper direction what is best professional way to blend road mesh in roundabout situation ? how would you do it ?

PCG is not yet at the point to create roads and especially junctions, because we don’t have anything in the framework to bend meshes. This is something we want to be able to interface at some point, with support of Spline Meshes.

ok thank you…but I’ve been reading some since that time…and some solutions to that are starting to show…the best one are paid :slight_smile: It is nice to get semi official answer and to know on what we are standing now. But I’m betting that there is someone in Your office that could do something magical using C++ with junctions :stuck_out_tongue:
