PC Shuts down only with Unreal - TwinMotion

A quick update to this:
Since spreading the GPU power across 2 buses out of the PSU, I have not had a single crash. (Down from literally up to 20 per day previously.) This is the same on both machines.
I’ve subsequently gone and removed the power limit on the GPU set up in the Gigabyte app, which has not created any problems.
So, problem solved for me at least.

Great news to hear!

Hi! What do you mean by “spreaing the GPU power across 2 buses”? I’m having the same problem as you guys and i’m trying to figure out what to do. Would really appreciate some help.

To summarize things up.
EU will try to push hardware(s) to it’s limit that may result an unexpected shutdown/crash or frying your GPU ( common issue in EU5 ). And best solution are:

  1. Limit you hardware power usage (GPU). Limiting it via app may still fail, so it important to check it patiently before moving to another solution
  2. Limit you frame usage.
  3. Combine 1 & 2 if solution #1 does’nt work for you
  4. Buy the best hardwares/GPU in Market like rtx4090

I hope this resolves power issues in EU5.

I think he ment to take the power cables that power you GPU and connect them on a diferent BUS (the rails on your PSU). As an example if you have 2 cables for your GPU, connect one on the top PCI rail at the back of your PSU and the other one, on the bottom PCI rail on the back of the PSU. I asumme that might reduce the power usage of one rail.

Thanks mate.
Had to ask what he meant on reddit.
In the end, for me, the reason for the shutdowns was overheating. I cleaned and reassembled everything, moved some stuff out of the case (specifically the HDD, as it was partially blocking the GPU exhaust, cause it wasn’t really meant to be there in the first place) and it everything works just fine now.
It’s a crap SFF case and i’m running more than its fair share inside of it, so i guess it was to be expected.
Hope this might save somebody the trouble of buying new parts.

OH MY GOODNESS - Hope this helps someone since I’ve been having this exact issue with my RTX 3080 running on a 850w Gold PSU. So, apparently the 3080 sometimes spikes to 900W when being pushed hard, which Unreal Engine does. It’s as hard as it gets (insert Michael Scott). So what I ended up doing was under volting my PSU, see: Undervolting RTX 3080 - Graphics Cards - Linus Tech Tips

I really hopes this helps someone out there having the same issue!

I think I’m also getting power issues in regard to running UE while rendering with a 4090, all the same symptoms as above, though this is on new hardware. This thread has given me some great insight. I’m going to try undervolting if it continues. How has undervolting been working out for you?

I replaced the PSU and removed Corsair’s RGB controller software from my system, I had to wire the fans directly to the motherboard instead of the corsair controller but now my system is stable, seems Unreal wasn’t the culprit, most likely is Corsair’s software conflicting with my motherboard for control over the fans causing instability when the system was under load.
