Patterns in Shadow

Unreal 5.2.1, DirectX 12 I am new to Unreal and have a shadow issue with large meshes. lines appear in the shadows and move with the directional light. It seems to be an issue with the meshes. I know its a setting I must have accidently clicked on because they were not always there. Please help.

Have you tried turning Nanite off for the cliff mesh?

I’m just checking ( because I can’t see clearly enough ), it doesn’t say ‘preview’ when you get close, does it?

It’s your directional light. Those lines are saying “Preview”.

Select your directional light and select “moveable” instead of “static”.

With the addition of the new lighting system in UE5 called Lumen, you no longer have to bake lighting. So, basically, things just go a lot easier for us all

Watch a few tutorials on lighting in Ue5. There is a lot out there.

That was it. I zoomed in and indeed the lines actually said ‘preview’. Thanks so much for the quick response and help. :+1:
