Particle Effect should deforms Geometry (absorb effect)

Hello,
I want to make a Teleport effect in which the Character gets suckt in when he comes to close to the particle effect. I Know how to make a particle effect, but i dont know how you can get a mesh deformed or suckt in by it.
I have seen a tutorial where a guy made a particle system which deformates and sucks in the character but i can not find it anymore
could somebody please help me?
