Parametric Metahuman Clothing with Simulation?

Hey all, I’m currently using Marvelous Designer to create my clothing and I want to create Parametric Clothing for Metahumans.

I am currently:

  • Exporting from Marvelous as a USD asset
  • Importing into a Clothing asset with the USD import and proceeding to transfer the skin weights, paint my simulation map and get that all sorted.
  • I created an outfit asset using the 2 clothing assets I created with separate body types. Both having simulation data.
  • And then proceeded to make it a Wardrobe asset to bring into MHC.

It resizes with Metahumans but when I assemble my Metahuman, the clothing is just a skeletal mesh with no simulation data.

Is it possible to create Parametric Metahuman Outfits that contain cloth simulation? Or is that not possible? Thanks in advance for the help!

Hi @ScrubMcDuck10 , would it be possible to ask some additional questions about your issue to get a clearer picture.

  • What Version of Unreal Engine are you using? (I believe the cloth pipeline may have changed between 5.4 and 5.5 with the introduction of “Tether asset” and the new Chaos Cloth Editor)
  • For your Simulation method are you using “Cloth Paint” tool or “Data Assets” for Chaos Cloth?

If you have any additional information that you think may relate to your issue such as screen shots please feel free to attach them as well.
