Currently I have 7 instruments hooking into a speaker device. But, the mix gets real muddy because it is all centered. Normally in a mixer I would use pan on each channel/track (i.e. the instrument devices in Patchwork) to spread the mix. I see the option for sending each instrument to it’s own speaker device and then I could place the instrument and get spatial sound, but, that seems like that might be heavy in terms of extra processing when all I really need is the pan in the underlying metasound to be used. Any suggestions?
I guess another option is to set the pan in the underlying Fusion Patches I am using in the instruments. Each Instrument has a different Fusion Patch so I guess that would work. Speaking of the fusion patch it appears that the settings must be the parameter settings for the underlying metasound. Is there any plans on exposing this so that we could effect the Settings during runtime with our own settings? Since it is a metasound underneath things I know it is possible because I do it in my UE 5.4 analog synth I built. Thanks again!
currently, the audio that travels through patchwork cables is a mono signal, so the only way to get spatialized sound is with separate speakers. we have work planned for the future to allow for a stereo signal chain, which will achieve what you want more easily, and properly support stereo content in fusion patches.
which fusion patch settings are you looking to have exposed? some of them can be adjusted at runtime, and others currently cannot. it would be interesting to hear some examples of what you have in mind, as we work on plans to better support users.
After I had gone into the fusion patches and set up the panning on the samples and it didn’t seem to do anything, I figured that you must have mono coming out of the underlying metasound. I guess that I will just use multiple speaker devices to achieve the separation of the channels. Thanks for the confirmation of what I was hearing.
